Digital Skills Empowerment
Digital Skills Empowerment
Problem
In Kisumu, many youth, women, and girls from marginalized communities face limited access to technology, digital illiteracy, and inadequate resources, preventing them from fully participating in the digital economy and modern agricultural innovations. This Digital Divide leaves them struggling to access job opportunities, digital entrepreneurship, and Agtech solutions, which are crucial for improving food security and economic empowerment. Without digital skills, they risk being left behind in an era where Precision Agriculture, e-commerce, and digital innovation are transforming industries and livelihoods.
Solution
To bridge the Digital Divide in Kisumu, IYI-K is committed to empowering youth, women, and girls with essential digital skills to enhance their participation in the digital economy, Agricultural Technology, and entrepreneurship. Our approach includes:
- Digital Literacy Training – Providing basic and advanced digital skills, including financial literacy, coding, 3D printing, web development, and cybersecurity, ensuring digital fluency.
- Access to Technology – Partnering with stakeholders to provide smartphones, computers, and digital resources for learning, enabling youth to access agriculture-related digital platforms and market opportunities.
- Entrepreneurship & Innovation – Training youth to leverage e-commerce, social media marketing, and Agtech solutions for business growth and food security innovations.
- Tech-Driven Learning & Partnerships – Collaborating with schools, tech hubs, and industry experts to provide mentorship, hackathons, and innovation challenges that encourage digital problem-solving and participation in Precision Agriculture
